
The Gwent 2024-25 superleague season kicks off on the 4th September with all 20 mens and women’s teams in action.
In the mens league. Last year’s winners, Pontnewydd Legion move to Cwmbran Workingmens club and have a home tie against the Dodger B who have also moved venues from the Out Out Bar this season. The dodger A side will start at home against Butters bar who came runner up last season. Newcomers Markham, a team of youth academy players start with an away trip to Crumlin. Blaenavon have entered a second team this season. Their A side start at home against Abergavenny while the B side travel to Hollybush. The Red Triangle team moved to The Valley Tavern this season and will play host to Crosskeys.
In the Ladies league, there are 3 new teams entering this year. Last years winners the Six in Hand start with an away trip to one of the new entries, The Royal Exchange. Cwmbran Workingmens club will also be entering a ladies team and they start at home against the Six Belles from Abertillery. The final new entrants, Butters bar start at home against Newport Arrows. The remaining fixture sees Risca travelling to the King William.
With a host of new teams this season, it promises to be a good year with lots of surprises.
