LEAGUE GETS OFF TO A CRACKING START

The first couple of weeks of the new season have kicked off what looks to be an exciting season. With 180s and ton+ scores hitting record levels. in the mens league, Gilfach have started the strongest and lead the way early on. Out Out Bar are close on their tails with both teams having won 4 out of 4 matches.


In the averages table Nick Kenny is has the slenderest of leads by 0.1 from Connor Hopkins. Peter Johns shows his form with the highest individual match average of the season with an amazing 34.95.


With the 180 count already at 88 after 4 weeks there is a lot more to come. Ton+ scores are already climbing fast with 1608 already hit.


In the ladies league, the King William and Newport couldn't be separated with both teams on 10 points.


Cheryl Jones of Cwmbran leads the averages with the highest individual game average of 20.04. Abbie Brewster is hot on her heels with the youth player again making a strong start to the season. New team, Abertillery got a win on the board and will be looking for more in the coming weeks.


In both leagues the youth players coming into the senior game are showing the great depth that we have in Gwent. Connor Hopkins, Ieuan Halsall and Jack Woodward have already picked up wins with Connor and Ieuan already having been selected for the Gwent seniors County squad next week.


Abbie Brewster and Yazmine Ruck-Harvard in the ladies league again find winning form with Abbie also being selected for the away match vs The Black Country next weekend.
