Superleague - New season is upon us

With the season approaching fast the league fixtures have been released. With a few new teams and player movement it promises to be an interesting season.


Mens league news.


The Men’s league Starts on the 2nd August with a number of changes. League winners, Pontnewydd Legion welcome back Welsh international star Sam Cankett into the team with what looks like another strong team looking to win the league in consecutive years. They will start their season at home to Crumlin RFC who have their own super star in the form of European youth semi-finalist, Connor Hopkins. Runners up Aberbargoed have moved venues to Hollybush RFC and will begin with an away trip to the King William.


The Dodger B team move to the Out Out Bar in Newport, While the Riverside move to the Arrows Club.


2 new teams this season will play from the Blaenavon Cons Club and Red Triangle Snooker Club in Crosskeys.

1. Arrows vs Abergavenny

2. Out Out vs Blaenavon

3. Red Triangle vs Butters Bar

4. Pontpool vs Crosskeys

5. Pontnewydd vs Crumlin

6. Cwmbran vs Dodger

7. King William vs Hollybush RFC


Ladies league news.


The ladies season starts on 9th August. The biggest news is the stepping out for a season of the ladies league winners the Legends. Although we understand 1 or 2 of their players will play in the team that have transferred from the Brynmawr Social club to the Legends venue. The King William will be fancying their chances of a league win this season. They kick off their season with an away game against the Top Club in Risca.


New team, Abertillery, will face an away trip to the Arrows team for their introduction into the league. The Arrows featuring their new Youth star, Abbie Brewster, and one of Gwents longest standing players Amanda Cosslett, will be looking to make good start to the season and fight for the top spot.


King William ladies with the 2022-23 players player of the year and joint managers player of the year, Tracey Hickey will also be looking for the top spot after narrowly missing out last season.
